The City

This will be my fifth time in London, but is–of course–the longest I will have spent in this city that I love.  I’m considering attending grad school in the U.K., so this is a test of sorts to see if I want to live the London life for an even more extended period of time.

London stole my heart early and has held onto bits of it ever since.  It is the only major city I’ve ever considered living in (others I prefer only to visit).

Morrissey has this to say on London (from “Hairdresser on Fire”):  here is london/ home of the brash, outrageous and free/ you are repressed/ but you’re remarkably dressed

Lilly Allen, this (from “LDN”): you might laugh you might frown/ walking ’round london town

I’m sure there are better literary quotes about this cultural capitol, but none spring to mind as quickly as catchy pop song hooks.
